Work with us

What we do

Six areas of work, one aim. Help Rwanda move AI from idea to national scale, responsibly.

Ministerial plenary at the AI Scaling Hub Community Convening
01 AI adoption

Better public services, faster

Why it matters
Ministries see what AI could do but often lack the people, data and partners to deliver it.
How we help
We scope each idea with the institution, bring in technical partners through open calls and stay until the service runs at national scale.
Examples in Rwanda
Medicine demand forecasting with Rwanda Medical Supply. AI support for community health workers. A farm advisory service in Kinyarwanda.
Who it’s for
Ministries, agencies and districts
02 Data, compute and sovereignty

The data and computing power AI needs, under Rwandan control

Why it matters
AI needs good data and serious computing power. Both were scarce, and sending data abroad puts privacy at risk.
How we help
We help institutions share data safely and build shared computing capacity in Rwanda, so public and private teams can train and run AI at home.
Examples in Rwanda
The national data sharing platform at data.gov.rw. A shared GPU facility being set up with RISA.
Who it’s for
Government institutions, researchers and companies
03 Talent and research

Rwandan skills for an AI economy

Why it matters
Demand for AI skills grows faster than the supply of trained people.
How we help
We train public servants, work with universities on research that reaches users, and help bring diaspora talent home.
Examples in Rwanda
AI literacy for public officials. Curated datasets, such as Kinyarwanda farm speech, for researchers to build on.
Who it’s for
Public servants, students, researchers and professionals
04 Responsible AI

Safe, fair and accountable AI

Why it matters
People need to trust AI before they’ll use it.
How we help
Our ethics and safety team researches risks, tests models and publishes practical guidance. MINICT holds policy, and the regulators keep their powers.
Examples in Rwanda
Quiet trials of health tools before any patient relies on them. Data protection checks on every project.
Who it’s for
Every Rwandan
05 Ecosystem and investment

A strong local AI industry

Why it matters
Local AI companies struggle to find customers, compute and capital.
How we help
We create clear demand through open calls, open access to shared infrastructure and give investors one point of contact.
Examples in Rwanda
Open benchmarks that let firms prove their solutions, such as the call for an agricultural advisory partner.
Who it’s for
Startups, AI companies and investors
06 Global partnerships

Rwanda’s voice in global AI

Why it matters
African priorities are often missing where global AI rules get made.
How we help
We represent Rwanda in global AI forums and build partnerships for knowledge, funding and collaboration.
Examples in Rwanda
The Global AI Summit on Africa in Kigali in 2025. Membership of the World Economic Forum C4IR network.
Who it’s for
Governments, multilateral bodies and international partners
